Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas *Spoilers*

“Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom…”

This book took me way to long to read, just a little over two months. I had to keep putting it down because I was having way to many emotions. I can 100% day this book had its issues but despite the problems , I love these characters with my whole heart.I am such trash for this series I can’t help but love it.

This is going to be filled with spoilers, so be warned. It’s also more of just my thoughts than an actual review.

Aelin!! My Queen! This woman has gone through so much suffering through this series and the torture scenes were so hard to read. It was very dark and graphic. My heart broke for her, but when she tried to break out of the iron coffin , my heart soared with pride. I keep forgetting how young she is because of how long we have to wait for each new book, but she’s only twenty years old !! It amazes me everything she has done. The scene with the river rising towards them was the most badass thing ever, she used the blast of power she’d been saving up for Maeve to stop the river. Gods I love her!!

“The endless wall of water surging for her… Aelin lifted her arms above her head. A pillar of fire shot up around her”

Dorian freaking Havilliard I adore him so much. The whole thing with Maeve in Morath was brilliant. I was so anxious for how that was all going to go down but Dorian is so smooth and it’s blew my mind. I have always loved Dorian right from the start. I do think his ability to shape shift was a little to convenient. He is to smart to have to rely on his magic so much. I really hope in the future SJM writes a spin off for him,he was the only one out of the original trio to not get a happy ending. It’s not like her to leave an open ended ending.

Fenrys I hate how much he suffered! When he broke the blood oath all on his own to Maeve I was so happy for him. His friendship with Aelin is so pure. I love it so much. I was shook that he was the one to land the killing blow to Maeve and it was everything I needed.

Aedione was such an ass for the majority of the book. He was bitter over the plan to have Lyssandra shift into Aelin when he could have just gotten on board with it, and avoided all the brooding. The science with Gavriel at the gate, is what redeemed him in my eyes. He felt so broken and it torn open my heart for him, to not get a chance to know his father.

Elide and Lorchan I absolutely loved there relationship. They are so sweet together. Haha Lord Lorcan Lochan! He turned into such a softie for Elide and bond his life to hers!! I will go down with this ship, I love them to pieces!! Elide stealing Farasha and going into a field of corpses while the dam is about 1 minute from breaking and killing her all to find Lorcan because she made a promise, she is such a badass!

Yeren is such a badass!! She defeated the biggest evil being of all time while pregnant, and she freaking saved everyone!! She is so kind and beautiful, she’s been through so much and she did it all without complaints.

Manon I really wasn’t a big fan of hers until this book. I am so proud of her for getting over all the hate her grandmother instilled in her mind. She rallied the witches together and became QUEEN!! The thirteen sacrifice broke my heart, I cried so much I had to put the book away. She is just so brave to go through everything and still coming out strong. I’m glad that the relationship with Dorian was left open, I do like them together. But all the couples getting happy endings isn’t realistic.

“What was stolen has been restored; what was lost has come home again. I hail thee, Manon Crochan, Queen of Witches. “

Rowan He isn’t my favourite character, honestly I find him a little dull. He lets Aelin make all the decisions, he needs a backbone. But his love for Aelin is everything!

Choal I sobbed when he was reunited with Dorian, it was such a precious moment. His father is just awful. I don’t have much to say about him he’s not one of my favorite characters.

Aelin looked at Chaol and Dorian and sobbed. Opened her arms to them, and wept as they held each other. “I love you both,” she whispered. “And no matter what may happen, no matter how far we may be, that will never change.”

Reading that last goodbye between Aelin, Dorian and Chaol where it sinks it that this is it. Their story has come to an end, they’ve come so far and it’s beautiful and it hurts.

The Rhysand cameo was everything I didn’t know I needed.I loved that whole scene. Aelin flying past worlds, being pulled back into her body.

The perfect ending to my favorite series! I am sad because I will never be able to read new Throne of Glass content for the first time ever again.

“And when Aelin lifted her head to survey the cheering crowd, when she smiled, Queen of Terrasen and the Faerie Queen of the West, she burned bright as a star.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

GoodreadsAmazon CA | Book Depository

This book completely wrecked me! I can’t handle all the feels. This book left me crying loud sad sobs, with a smile in my face. I’m a giant mixed bag of emotions.

“Only you can decide what breaks you, Cursebreaker. Only you.”

I was slightly disappointed that this book didn’t live up to ACOMAF but then again I don’t think I will ever love s book more than that one. This is a first conclusion we’ve had from a Maas series and I’m overall content with it. I am excited to see what happens in the spin off because I’m complete trash.

I love how Maas writes such complex characters who have had there lives destroyed in every possible way but they keep in fighting. My love for the characters grow with each book. This third installment added a large new cast of characters, it was sometimes hard to keep them all straight.

“What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength.”

Feyra character growth is outstanding. She went from having low self worth to being a confident leader. Seeing all that she’s gone through is just incredible.

Rhysand is by far my favorite male character ever written. He is perfect, his sense of humor, selflessness, his devotion to his court and family, and of course his love for Feyra.

Elaine is such a sweetie, and I felt so much love for her after everything she had been through. I cannot wait to see more of her in the spin off and I really want her to give Lucien a chance.

Lucien will continue to be my favorite side character in this series. I love how we got to see a piece of the autumn court and learn a little more who’s past. His concern and adoration for Elaine is so cute!

Nesta I still don’t particularly like her but she has come along way since the beginning. She is extremely hard on Feyra and it’s unfair and not deserving. I loved her connection to the cauldron and how she grew to accept herself as fae. I really felt her grow to care about Cassian, can’t wait to see them in the spin off.

Cassian pulled on my heart strings in this book. I was a little indifferent towards him in the previous book. But he won me over and I lived all the interactions with Nesta.

“The great joy and honour of my life has been to know you. To call you my family. And I am grateful – more than I can possibly say – that I was given this time with you all”

The ending, had a few plot holes and I wanted something more. I can’t really go to into because of spoilers but I guess I wanted something different. This really was a great conclusion to this part of the story. I love this book so much and I’m really excited to see what Maas comes up with next!

A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Mass

Author: Sarah J Mass
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Pages: 624
Rating: 5 Stars

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.

***Originally Written May 5 2016, I just re-read the book so I re posted the review to show it on the timeline.

This is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and let me tell you this book did not have the second book slump that most second books have. I love this book!!! I can’t deal with all my feelings, my thoughts are all over the place. I was blown away, how am I going to survive until the next book. I’ll just be over here crying about my babies. Was even better than the first one. This might be my favorite fantasy book of all time. The world building was truly phenomenal, I loved getting to see the different courts and I hope before the series is finished we will have seen all the courts.(Especially Autumn !! I hope its crimson and orange, with a Halloween feel )

I really glad that Sarah portrayed Feyre having PTSD in a realistic way. That showed the emotional and physical trauma. Feyre needed time to heal and become more comfortable with her new body as a Fae and her powers. She doesn’t know what powers she has or what they can do. It was interesting seeing how she managed to control the powers as she discovered them.

In the last book A Court of Thorns and Roses I liked Rhys from the very beginning when he saves her from those two fae at Fire Night ,I loved him. Team Rhysand trash forever. Ryhs is BAE!! In this book you learn more about his back story and what he had to go through to protect his cities and the people he loves. He is a shameless flirt, the banter between Rhysand and Feyre had me laughing out loud.

Tamlin: His character shift seemed to happen really quick but looking back he was always over protective and only thinking about himself and not about her. He didn’t want Feyre to learn her powers, he was scared of others finding out what she was and what that would mean to his court.

Feyre and Rhys relationship was slowly developed and didn’t rush into anything. They build a trusting friendship first. It wasn’t all about the romance Rhys genuinely cared about Feyre health and well-being. He gave her space to cope with who she is now after the events of under the mountain. He gave her the tools she needed to re discover herself and make her own decisions. Feyre and Rhys mate bond was awesome, how they could communicate with each other through their minds.

The new characters are awesome and that there not just there to help the plot, they each have their own personalities and backstories. Rhys inner circle, I love how they just accepted Feyre. Cassian, he was the playful one but when he needed to be serious he was down for business. I love Amren! She is so awesome.

And the ending oh my god ! When the king had made a bargain with Tamlin, I’ve never wanted to punch someone so much. Feyre’s sisters were turned fae, holy crap ! Then the youngest sister was mated with Lucien, like what? So many things happened near the end, Feyre becoming the High Lady of the night court, freaking awesome there not just married there equal in every way. But she has to pretend that the bond is broken and go back to the spring court with Tamlin. Just so many things I could keep writing about it forever!!

This book is honestly a masterpiece. I can’t wait for the third book because it will be crazy. I need the third book now, I need my High Lord and High Lady. I need more books from Sarah J Maas. The pov switch to Rhysand at the end was too much, I will be an emotional mess at the end of the third book. It’s been almost a month since I’ve read this beautiful book and I’m still not over it. I just loved it so much !!

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas Review

31450852Title: Tower of Dawn
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Genre:Ya, Fantasy
Pages: 664
Rating :4 Stars

Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken.

His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica—the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them.

But what they discover in Antica will change them both—and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.

About an hour ago I finished Tower of Dawn which is the sixth book in the Throne of Glass series. The ending had me in tears. I went into this without a ton of expectations because as I’ve said in the past I am not that fond of Chaol but this book completely changed my mind. I always knew I was going to read this book but it took me a while to get to it. Chaol really has improved from that rude human being who he once was. I loved getting more of insight into his feelings…what he went through with his breakup with Aelin , his love for Dorian

Taking place during the events of Empire of Storms, Tower of Dawn follows Chaol and Nesryn to Antica, part of the Southern Continent, where Chaol is in search of healing for his injury also they are striving for an alliance with the Khaganate that could tip the war in there favor.

The first 300 pages I found to be pretty slow because there is so many new characters and world building. But the rest the book really picked up. I only gave this book 4 stars because of the first half the the book and also because I was uninterested in Chaol up until that point.

Chaol’s healing felt a lot like Aelin’s story in Heir of Fire with how she had to really break and face everything she was before she could rebuild herself and move forward with a purpose. Chaol had to go through the same story arc, his body and soul needed to heal together. He goes through so much in this book and has really grown as a person.

YERENE! She first appeared in the Assins Blade ( which I have still have yet to read) .Her sassy-ness and she takes no bull shit towards Chaol. She is resentful to have to heal Chaol because of her hatred for the old King and Ardalan. There relationship grows and I love them together. I liked the fact that she didn’t do things for him and made him do things for himself. Sarah is so good at writing badass female character’s.

Nesryn. I found her story sort of dragged, until the end of the story. I feel like we still don’t really know to much about her. That she is sort of a filler character. I liked her story with the Prince and the ruk’s.

If you were thinking about skipping this book , I suggest you don’t as there is a lot of important information you need to go into the next book. It was supposed to be a novella but it is not its a the sixth book to the series. So much happens in this book that I cant talk about because of spoilers but I do recommend you do pick this up.

SARAH J MAAS IS LIFE! This series is just EVERYTHING to me. I really missed not having Aelin and Dorian around and cannot wait for the next installment even though it will be the last. I’m not ready for what is to come, but I am ready for everyone to be reunited.

The Rose & the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

This was a majestic, beautiful, heart-wrenching, INCREDIBLE ending to a series I will forever cherish in my heart. I was so not mentally prepared for that to be the end of the series. I loved both books so much, so I guess I’m happy that there were only two so that I don’t have to stay up all night wondering what’s to happen next. I love Renee Ahdieh’s words so much, her imagery and be forever immersed in the beautiful depth and passion. Renèe Ahdieh has an amazing writing style creating a diverse world of engaging culture. I adored this series so very much. I highly recommend this book!

Paper Princess by Erin Watt

I have no idea when was the last time a book got me so addicted to it. I had lost all sense of time Erin Watt, the pseudonym of two authors, Elle Kennedy & Jen Frederick. This book is marketed as Ya but it has a lot of mature themes and I would say its more NA. Ella Harper- She is the absolute BOMB. Like y’all know how much I love my feisty heroines. Her voice was realistic and had an actual personality. This was such a fun fast read, and it ended on a major cliffhanger!! Broken Prince can’t come any sooner.
