Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas *Spoilers*

“Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom…”

This book took me way to long to read, just a little over two months. I had to keep putting it down because I was having way to many emotions. I can 100% day this book had its issues but despite the problems , I love these characters with my whole heart.I am such trash for this series I can’t help but love it.

This is going to be filled with spoilers, so be warned. It’s also more of just my thoughts than an actual review.

Aelin!! My Queen! This woman has gone through so much suffering through this series and the torture scenes were so hard to read. It was very dark and graphic. My heart broke for her, but when she tried to break out of the iron coffin , my heart soared with pride. I keep forgetting how young she is because of how long we have to wait for each new book, but she’s only twenty years old !! It amazes me everything she has done. The scene with the river rising towards them was the most badass thing ever, she used the blast of power she’d been saving up for Maeve to stop the river. Gods I love her!!

“The endless wall of water surging for her… Aelin lifted her arms above her head. A pillar of fire shot up around her”

Dorian freaking Havilliard I adore him so much. The whole thing with Maeve in Morath was brilliant. I was so anxious for how that was all going to go down but Dorian is so smooth and it’s blew my mind. I have always loved Dorian right from the start. I do think his ability to shape shift was a little to convenient. He is to smart to have to rely on his magic so much. I really hope in the future SJM writes a spin off for him,he was the only one out of the original trio to not get a happy ending. It’s not like her to leave an open ended ending.

Fenrys I hate how much he suffered! When he broke the blood oath all on his own to Maeve I was so happy for him. His friendship with Aelin is so pure. I love it so much. I was shook that he was the one to land the killing blow to Maeve and it was everything I needed.

Aedione was such an ass for the majority of the book. He was bitter over the plan to have Lyssandra shift into Aelin when he could have just gotten on board with it, and avoided all the brooding. The science with Gavriel at the gate, is what redeemed him in my eyes. He felt so broken and it torn open my heart for him, to not get a chance to know his father.

Elide and Lorchan I absolutely loved there relationship. They are so sweet together. Haha Lord Lorcan Lochan! He turned into such a softie for Elide and bond his life to hers!! I will go down with this ship, I love them to pieces!! Elide stealing Farasha and going into a field of corpses while the dam is about 1 minute from breaking and killing her all to find Lorcan because she made a promise, she is such a badass!

Yeren is such a badass!! She defeated the biggest evil being of all time while pregnant, and she freaking saved everyone!! She is so kind and beautiful, she’s been through so much and she did it all without complaints.

Manon I really wasn’t a big fan of hers until this book. I am so proud of her for getting over all the hate her grandmother instilled in her mind. She rallied the witches together and became QUEEN!! The thirteen sacrifice broke my heart, I cried so much I had to put the book away. She is just so brave to go through everything and still coming out strong. I’m glad that the relationship with Dorian was left open, I do like them together. But all the couples getting happy endings isn’t realistic.

“What was stolen has been restored; what was lost has come home again. I hail thee, Manon Crochan, Queen of Witches. “

Rowan He isn’t my favourite character, honestly I find him a little dull. He lets Aelin make all the decisions, he needs a backbone. But his love for Aelin is everything!

Choal I sobbed when he was reunited with Dorian, it was such a precious moment. His father is just awful. I don’t have much to say about him he’s not one of my favorite characters.

Aelin looked at Chaol and Dorian and sobbed. Opened her arms to them, and wept as they held each other. “I love you both,” she whispered. “And no matter what may happen, no matter how far we may be, that will never change.”

Reading that last goodbye between Aelin, Dorian and Chaol where it sinks it that this is it. Their story has come to an end, they’ve come so far and it’s beautiful and it hurts.

The Rhysand cameo was everything I didn’t know I needed.I loved that whole scene. Aelin flying past worlds, being pulled back into her body.

The perfect ending to my favorite series! I am sad because I will never be able to read new Throne of Glass content for the first time ever again.

“And when Aelin lifted her head to survey the cheering crowd, when she smiled, Queen of Terrasen and the Faerie Queen of the West, she burned bright as a star.

I was full on ready to read this book and love it but sadly I was mildly disappointed. Maybe my expectation were to high. I found the first half of the book to be a bit slow, around the half way point things start to pick up.The writing style of course is beautifully written.Shatter Me was a trilogy that is now going to be a 6th book series, and Restore Me is book 4. I feel like this is a bridge book setting up the series to keep moving forward.

Restore me picks up exactly where ignite me left off with Juliette becoming Supreme commander of North America. I really like how this book is told in the POV of Juliette and Warner’s. A lot of things that left me wondering from the original trilogy where explained in this book. There were so many revelations and twists in this book and I’m so excited to see where this series goes.

Juliette has come such a long way since book 1, she is stronger and able to better control her powers.  But she’s not perfect and that makes her such a relatable character. She discovers a lot of intense information about herself and her past in this book, it was incredible.I love how the more Juliette emotionally heals the more in -tuned with her powers she gets.

Warner I’m STILL COMPLETE TRASH FOR HIM !!He’s still swoonworthy and I love him so so much !! I really loved his point of view , we get to see how he views the world. We see him deal with anxiety which was so well done.

There relationship is still full of so much drama. These two need to learn to communicate better. Warner’s life has always been mysterious, no real information about his past. So it shouldn’t have been a surprise to Juliette that there was still things he was keeping from her. In Unravel Me and Ignite Me it’s hinted at that Warner had to do something to become in charge of sector 45 but it was never revealed what he did. But I think that now that all these secrets have been revealed will make there relationship stronger.

Kenji deserves the world! I love how supportive of Juliette he was, and he finally got some much needed bonding time with Warner. They have so many good interactions, they were so funny together!! I have always loved Kenji and I’m super happy he stayed relatively the same character. I love his witty banter.

I think Adam deserved a bigger role in this book, he was barely mentioned. We spent most of the original trilogy with him and for him to be excluded left me missing him.

I have no idea how in the hell Tahereh Mafi expects us to wait a WHOLE YEAR to read the next book. The ending scene I felt was rushed, I wanted more!
