5 Easy Ways to Read More | 2021

Hello Everybody! I hope you are all doing well, staying healthy and if your here you must want to read more. I’m always being asked how I read so much while having a full time time, two kids while doing everyday activities and running my social media. Now I in no way read as much as some people, but the past three years I have read 100 or more books at the end of the year.

Reading has so many good benefits, it’s stress reducing, helps with vocabulary and comprehension as well as being fun. You literally get to be transported to other worlds, see other cultures, have the ability to be someone else and if nonfiction is your jam then your striving towards self improvement or learning about a new topic! All of these things are why we live to read.

Unfortunately many of us do live busy lives and there is not always time to sit down and read. I am hoping the following tips allow you to find just a little extra time to sink into a story!

1. Schedule Your Reading

If you want to make reading a priority then you should schedule a time to do it, especially if your days are pretty busy. Set aside 30 minutes, put your phone away and pick up the book of your choice. Soon this practice will become a habit.

2. Create a Relaxing Environment

First put your phone away, then pick a cozy place to sit with pillows and blankets. Get a large hot cup of coffee.

3. Track Your Progress

Set a reading goal, wether that’s to read 100 pages a day or 50 books by the end of the year. Use goodreads or a journal to keep track. By visually seeing how much you are reading it can be motivating to keep going. But do not let your goal become a stressor, if you do not make your goal then it’s okay. It’s just a tool to help you.

4. Read What You Want

This one might sound a little obvious, but you should only pick books that attract you. It’s important to read what you enjoy, don’t pick up a book based solely on popularity. Also don’t read for the sake of just reading, it should be something enjoyable to you. Read a wide variety of genres, that way you don’t limit yourself on what your picking up to read. And don’t be afraid to put down a book your not enjoying, forcing yourself to read when you don’t like the story will make reading feel like a chore.

5. Read on the Go with Audiobooks

Audiobooks for me is how I read so much. It took me a fe to really get into them but once I did it was a game changer. Audiobooks allow you to enjoy a book while doing housework. While driving or walking, when your tired but still want to read.

Libro.fm is a fantastic service! This company allows the reader to purchase audiobooks through local bookstores. Allowing you to digitally support your community. It is 14.99$ a month and you’ll have access to thousands of audiobooks. There is also a sale section that is always well stocked. ( This is not sponsored I just love them)

  1. These are some really great tips! I’ve been on a reading slump recently so I’m eager to try and get back into reading. One of my friends has started a book club and every month we’re going to have Zoom meetings to discuss the chosen book for the month. I think it’s going to be a great way to prompt me to read more and explore books that I may have not chosen myself too 🙂

  2. I like the idea of tracking my progress. I repurchased the entire Harry Potter collective at Christmas so now I’m working my way through them. I love telling people all about it even though they know the stories inside out haha

  3. These are great tips. I was really enjoying audiobooks while working from home but now I am back in the office I can’t do it and I am really missing it.

I like the idea of a target each day, I think I would really push myself that way x

  4. Although I’m not actively going anywhere right now due to lockdown, I would really like to get into Audiobooks. I’ve actually never listened to one! I’m a pretty slow reader but I wish I could read faster and get through more books on a monthly basis! x
