“A smart man once told me the wait for something to happen can drive a sane man mad. And this place is full of madness.”
Holy Crap !! What did I just read? This book was one wild ride with no stops until the end. I’m sitting here trying to make sense of what I just read and how to feel about it. This book was like nothing I’ve ever read before, if I had to compare it to something it would be Saw meets Harley Quinn. Starting this I really had no idea what I was getting myself into, only that is was about a romance with a serial killer. That’s all I needed to know!
London is a criminal psychologist, who finds herself in over her head with the case of her new patient, Grayson. He is a convicted serial killer, she thinks she is in control of the situation because her medical expertise but she is very wrong. From there first moments together she feels an attraction towards him. Grayson, is highly intelligent and chooses his victims based of there own crimes. He believes he is punishing them, by putting them in a dangerous situation and letting the victim choose how it will end. He would set up video feeds so he could watch from a distance.
London tries to deny her growing attraction to this man, and she does repeal some of his advances. However he is charming and he brings up memories of some of her own dark secrets.
I really don’t want to give anything away, because its such a mind game as you read about these two people. I definitely didn’t see where it was heading at the end, but I didn’t really know where anything would lead.
“It’s strange what impacts us. People don’t remember the good. They remember what guts them.”
The writing was fantastic, the plot was fast-paced and kept you on the edge of your seat.
This first installment in the Darkly, Madly duology is truly one of the most brilliantly written and emotional dark romances I have EVER read! Trisha Wolfe is a new to me author, that I am pleased to say she didn’t disappoint.
