One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus

“She’s a princess and you’re a jock,” he says. He thrusts his chin toward Bronwyn, then at Nate. “And you’re a brain. And you’re a criminal. You’re all walking teen-movie stereotypes.”

I’ve been wanting to read One of Us is Lying for awhile now. I am a hug fan of TV shows like Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars. This book is definitely addicting, some of the twist were predictable but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story.

In One of Us Is Lying, each of our four main characters is hiding a secret they fear will destroy their reputation. This book follows the story of Bronwyn, the brain; Addy, the princess; Nate, the criminal and Cooper, the jock .One afternoon they all find themselves in detention, with another student, Simon, the creator of a gossip app. Five teenagers in detention sounds like the start of a teen movie, but that’s not the way this goes down. Simon dies of a fatal allergic reaction to peanut oil planted in his drinking cup.

“I know what it’s like to tell yourself a lie so often that it becomes the truth.”

Right away, we dive into the four main character’s lives, their secrets, home life and how they’re copping with the situation.  Every character was so different and well developed. This book was full of twist, I didn’t end up figuring out what really happened to Simon until the character’s did. So I better not become a detective anytime soon. I really liked the writing it was witty and flowed easily.

I really can’t say enough good things about this book.I finished this book in two days,I highly recommend listening to the audiobook, its so much fun.
