“Stories let us see and hear and feel what someone else does,” she explained. “They build bridges to the other islands. That’s why stories are so important. They create true empathy.”

When I heard there was a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol I was totally interested!! This was the perfect book to read for the Holiday season.

Holly Chase is the ultimate modern day Scrooge. She cares more about makeup, hair color, and name brands that making a difference in the world. On Christmas Eve she was visited by three ghosts, she did not take there warnings seriously. She was in an accident that ended her life. Holly became the new ghost of Christmas past, for project Scrooge.

Five years later, the new Scrooge is picked for that year. A teenage boy, Holly is immediately drawn to him. Then things start to change, Ethan is not so lost that he can’t change and Holly is determined to help him.

I really liked a lot of the side characters too. They added so much more to the story. This was such a beautiful and touching book and it’s perfect for Christmas. I recommend picking it up if your in the mood for a light holiday read.
