I love Elle Kennedy she is my favorite new adult author. I especially love her hockey drama’s that captured my heart a few years ago. This was my most anticipated book for August and I loved every minute of it. The Chase is filled with a lot of angst, lust and downright funny moments. It is also touching and deals with some tough issues as well such as rape culture and struggling with ADHD.
This book follows Summer Heyward-Di Laurentis, Dean’s sister. She is a fashion major, who is transferring from one ivy league school to Briar U because of some trouble she got into with her sorority house. She is in need of somewhere to live luckily Dean pulled some strings and she moves in with the younger generation of Briar hockey players. She was the perfect heroine with her sass, her loyalty and vulnerability.I was rooting for her so hard, she isn’t the typical character I would normally be drawn to but there is so much more to her than beauty and clothes.
Fitz… Colin Fitzgerald, I really liked him. He was very relatable, being an introvert. He would rather stay home and play video games ( me i would read)He doesn’t enjoy being in the spotlight or centered around drama. He isn’t your typical hockey player, he is covered in tattoos and spends all his free time working on his art.
This is a slow burn romance, there is a lot of hesitation of Fitz part, but that didn’t stop me from adoring there relationship. Summer and Fitz has some personal issues they had to work through in order to create a path to develop a relationship. I smiled and swooned, I couldn’t get enough of them.
I loved this book so much! I loved getting to see some of the Off-Campus boys for little cameos. The Chase is absolutely everything you’ll want in a college sports romance and then some. I can’t wait to read The Risk next year.
