Title: Listen to your Heart
Author: Kasie West
Genre: Young Adult,Contemporary
Rating: 4 Stars
Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favorite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.
But to Kate’s surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend … until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.
Kasie West’s adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.
ARC provided by the publisher via Edelweiss for an honest review.
This is Kasie West’s newest novel, I am determined to read all her book’s this year so I was super excited to receive an e-arc copy from Edelwiess. I loved this one, honestly all of Kasie’s books are super sweet adorable reads, but this one is probably my favorite. Kasie West is my go to author when I just want something light and fun.
It was a little predictable, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. There was a slow burn romance which if you didn’t know is one of my favorite types of romances. The character’s in this were fantastic. The author is started be write more diverse character’s, I found in her earlier books all her characters were Caucasian. I related to Kate so much ! I to don’t like talking to people and am comfortable inside my little group of friends.Kate is funny and I love her friendship with Alana. I liked how being a part of the podcast allowed Kate to grow as a character. Diego is a sweetheart, he is the perfect love interest.
The podcast story line was really interesting, I myself have never listened to a podcast before and I’m now interested to try some. I really like some of the topics that were brought up such as the topic of bullying and the advice that was given.
I really enjoyed Listen to Your Heart. I highly recommend you pick up this book during the summer, you wont be disappointed.
