GoodReads Summary
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Everything, Everything will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. It’s an innovative, inspiring, and heartbreakingly romantic debut novel that unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more.

My Review

I’ll admit I read the book because I saw the movie trailer and amandla stenberg is playing the protagonist. This is one of the cutest, saddest, most heartwarming stories I’ve read in a long while.I was really surprised by this book as it was really hyped up and I’ve been avoiding hyped book’s.This book was overall enjoyable, and I absolutely adored the writing!

It did have some predictable moments as many stories like this does, but I didn’t mind it at all. This is an extremely fast-paced book.I read it in two sittings, I would have finished it in one but you know life got in the way.

Madeline was funny and imaginative, and loving. Olly was quite perfect in his own ways.I loved him. He wears all black, can never sit still, and does parkour.
Their romance was so, so cute!! There texting conversations was adorable.

If you are a fan of YA contemporary but are looking for something a little different, I’d definitely pick this one up! 🙂 Nicola Yoon is one incredibly talented writer, and I am so glad to have discovered her.

Quotes

“I was happy before I met him. But I’m alive now, and those are not the same thing.”

“I wanted everything, Olly. I wanted you and the whole wide world. I wanted everything.”

  1. This book really surprised me as well. I’m not normally into cutesy contemporaries – especially those that involve a forbidden love to a boy next door. But her writing style and the illustrations throughout completely pulled me in. And that ending….. I did NOT see that coming!!

  4. Wonderfully written review! Likewise despite all the predictable and cliché moments, I loved the book. I too rated it five stars because of the rawness of the writing style. It was such a heartwarming read and I could literally feel as though I was experiencing and perceiving the events as they were happening to Maddy which is ALWAYS a good sign! 🙂
I look forward to more reviews from you in the future… Happy Reading! 🙂
