This is Gretchen’s debut poetry collection and she didn’t disappoint. Gretchen is one of the first people I started talking to when I began blogging and she is such a sweet girl ! I am so HAPPY for her!

I ordered a paperback copy but I was to impatient that I also purchased an ebook copy so I could read it right away. I finished the book in one sitting. I expected to love it before I read it but I didn’t expect to feel so deeply connected to what Gretchen was saying. I’m at a loss for words. Her words are so powerful and beautifully written. I was able to relate to almost every poem and they left me in tears. Every girl should pick up a copy and read this collection. Girls need to know that self love is important and it’s okay to let go.I can’t even begin to pick a favorite poem I loved so many of them. I can’t wait to read more of Gretchen’s work in the future.

one day i met a guy
who stole my heart,
we created a world
for ourselves.
and another day
he broke my heart
and shattered
my soul.

i took the tattered
pieces of this
broken soul and
became anew.

– here lies the hurting, the healing, and the learning

About the Author

Gretchen Gomez is a writer and blogger from Bronx, New York. First generation Puerto Rican. She’s been writing poetry since the age of 11 and although silenced for many years, she cut the ties with silence. “love, and you” is her first published poetry collection and she is working on other collections at the moment. Gretchen makes art out of all her past experiences.
