GoodReads Summary
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Everything, Everything will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. It’s an innovative, inspiring, and heartbreakingly romantic debut novel that unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more.

My Review

I’ll admit I read the book because I saw the movie trailer and amandla stenberg is playing the protagonist. This is one of the cutest, saddest, most heartwarming stories I’ve read in a long while.I was really surprised by this book as it was really hyped up and I’ve been avoiding hyped book’s.This book was overall enjoyable, and I absolutely adored the writing!

It did have some predictable moments as many stories like this does, but I didn’t mind it at all. This is an extremely fast-paced book.I read it in two sittings, I would have finished it in one but you know life got in the way.

Madeline was funny and imaginative, and loving. Olly was quite perfect in his own ways.I loved him. He wears all black, can never sit still, and does parkour.
Their romance was so, so cute!! There texting conversations was adorable.

If you are a fan of YA contemporary but are looking for something a little different, I’d definitely pick this one up! 🙂 Nicola Yoon is one incredibly talented writer, and I am so glad to have discovered her.

Quotes

“I was happy before I met him. But I’m alive now, and those are not the same thing.”

“I wanted everything, Olly. I wanted you and the whole wide world. I wanted everything.”

GoodReads Summary
You go through life thinking there’s so much you need…

Until you leave with only your phone, your wallet, and a picture of your mother.

Marin hasn’t spoken to anyone from her old life since the day she left everything behind. No one knows the truth about those final weeks. Not even her best friend, Mabel. But even thousands of miles away from the California coast, at college in New York, Marin still feels the pull of the life and tragedy she’s tried to outrun. Now, months later, alone in an emptied dorm for winter break, Marin waits. Mabel is coming to visit, and Marin will be forced to face everything that’s been left unsaid and finally confront the loneliness that has made a home in her heart

My Review

I wasn’t planning on reading this book but I had a credit for an audiobook and I needed something to listen to in between studying.I’ve never read anything by Nina LaCour before. I’m so glad I decided to give this book a try. I really really liked this story. It is so beautifully written,

It is a character driven story, about relationships and friendship Marin was such a lovable and angsty character and I couldn’t get enough of her. I could feel her loneliness and grief in her words. Her story is heartbreaking, but her growth as the story went on was incredible. It’s a short book but it gets the story across, if it was any longer it would have dragged on and ruined the feel of the book.

One of my favourite part’s of Marine’s story is the pottery shop, it was perfect. It’s exactly how I pictured a cute modern pottery shop.

This was my first Nina LaCour book and it won’t be my last.

Quotes

I close my eyes, and I breathe her in, and I think about this home that belongs to neither of us, and I listen to the fire crackling, and I feel the warmth of the room and of her body, and we are okay. We are okay.

“And I think of how time passes so differently for different people.”

Review of Thirteen Reasons Why (Season 1)

Trigger warning: Suicide, rape, sexual harassment, self harm, self harm scars, bullying, abuse, vomiting, blood

Everyone has been talking about Netflix’s new original series. The story about 17 year old Hannah Baker who committed suicide.Clay Jensen receives a box of thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah. Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. It’s so well done. Every episode is a new tape.

I started watching the show on Friday, the second I started it I knew I wasn’t going to be able to stop watching it. I watched the first 4 episodes and then went to bed. Saturday I watched up until episode 11. So yesterday I finished the season after my exam. And I freaking cried for over an hour after it was finished. My heart is broken for Hannah, Clay,Jeff, Jessica and Alex.

The thing that’s so amazing about 13 Reasons Why is that it’s so real. It’s not just here for entertainment. It’s a show about how someone can affect another person. The show doesn’t shy away from the difficult topics.

The actors were amazing. Katherine Langford as Hannah is brilliant. She is so beautiful! Katherine prayed Hannah perfectly. Hannah went through so much and felt like she had no one to talk to.I hate everything that happened to her.

Jessica, I loved her, then I hated her, and then I felt really bad for her.I feel like Justin Foley actually is redeemable, he acts like a dick because that’s how the other boys expect him to act. It killed me when his mom chose her boyfriend other her own son. Alex, for baby, he was a jerk for doing what he did but he was the first one who wanted to come forward.

I highly recommend you watch it. Once you watch the pilot you’ll be hooked and need to continue.

This is Gretchen’s debut poetry collection and she didn’t disappoint. Gretchen is one of the first people I started talking to when I began blogging and she is such a sweet girl ! I am so HAPPY for her!

I ordered a paperback copy but I was to impatient that I also purchased an ebook copy so I could read it right away. I finished the book in one sitting. I expected to love it before I read it but I didn’t expect to feel so deeply connected to what Gretchen was saying. I’m at a loss for words. Her words are so powerful and beautifully written. I was able to relate to almost every poem and they left me in tears. Every girl should pick up a copy and read this collection. Girls need to know that self love is important and it’s okay to let go.I can’t even begin to pick a favorite poem I loved so many of them. I can’t wait to read more of Gretchen’s work in the future.

one day i met a guy
who stole my heart,
we created a world
for ourselves.
and another day
he broke my heart
and shattered
my soul.

i took the tattered
pieces of this
broken soul and
became anew.

– here lies the hurting, the healing, and the learning

Life Update

Today was my official last day of class, this week was really stressful with exams. I got two of my marks back and there both above 80% ! I need to wait till next week to get the other two back. It was hard saying good-bye to everyone knowing they have another year ahead of them that I won’t be a part of. I will be going back in 2019 but it will be with a different group of people. I’ve met so many great girls this year and I don’t regret going into the program.I got hired at a nursing home down the street from my home, that I will be starting at on Monday ! 🙂

So, I have 3 book reviews that I’m currently working on and mini review of all the poetry collections I’ve read this year. Also have a Thirteen Reasons Why series review I’m working on.
