My Review

This is the first book in the monsters of verity duology. This was my first Victoria/ VE Schwab book and it didn’t disappoint,I will be picking up some of her other book’s in the future. This story takes place in a city called Verity where violence breeds monsters. Whenever there is major violence it creates a new monster. Which is really awesome, I love that idea and Victoria Schwab wrote it so well. There are three types of monsters :Corsai,Malachi and Sunai. Verity is basically split in half,the north side and the south side. The beginning had a Romeo and Juliet feel to it with the different sides hating each other. The atmosphere of the book was dark and gloomy.

I just finished This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab, and oh my god,this book was freaking amazing .I loved the writing, I loved the characters, the plot. I felt the pacing was a bit off at the beginning, the first 100 pages were slow. The action doesn’t really begin until the middle of the book–and when it starts, everything starts moving so so fast. The world is really unique and interesting, but what really grabbed me and didn’t let go until long after I’d finished the book was the characters. The characters are so complex. August and Kate’s friendship is so well-written and authentic. There is an understanding between them, they both want the same thing and they work together to achieve it. I am a sucker for beautifully designed book covers! And Sony Pictures bought the movie rights 😀

Kate Harker -> I really liked Kate, she was badass but not fearless. I mean, she compares herself to a CULT LEADER. How could you not adore her? She is very clever and cunning. She knew exactly what she wanted and didn’t care what people thought of her. She is a morally gray character.

August Flynn ->My precious baby. He had a sort of poetic voice, as he tries to stay connected to his humanity. August who wants to be human and made of stardust. He needs to be protected.

The side characters are also so beautifully written: Ilsa who is August sister and she’s so amazing. I hope is the sequel that we get to see more of her. I also loves Allegro! This book has no romance, its refreshing in a YA book. I really glad she wrote it this way because in this dark gritty world there is no time for romance. I do love how strong there friendship is.
